EcoGraf (ASX:EGR) said IP Australia accepted its second patent application for its HFfree purification processing technology and the patent application will proceed to grant, according to a Tuesday Australian bourse filing.
The application provides broader protection for its purification technology flowsheet, the filing said.
The firm's product qualification plant met the highest customer chemical specification for spherical graphite, while also retaining the important physical specification, per the filing.
The HF free purification processing technology achieved extremely high purification levels of 99.99% of carbon, with low levels of impurities.
It is continuing discussions with a range of automobile original equipment manufacturers, battery manufacturers, and potential supply chain customers. It is seeking to qualify the product samples with over six major battery groups in Europe, Asia, and North America.
It is reviewing several potential development locations as it expects customer adoption of new non-Chinese demand to significantly grow from the beginning of 2027 in Europe and North America.
Shares rose 2% in recent trade.
