Hong Kong stocks opened higher during morning trading on Monday as Chinese exports were seen to have increased in March.

The Hang Seng Index jumped 2.15% to 21,363.88 on Monday morning from Friday afternoon's close of 20,914.69. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index increased 2.16% to 7,970.12 from 7,801.51.

Chinese exports were seen to have risen 4.4% year over year in value terms, up from 2.3% in the January-February period, Reuters reported Friday.

The shipments increased after US President Donald Trump released sweeping tariffs in April, according to the news agency.

Meanwhile mobile phone shipments from China were also spared from Trump's steep tariffs, Reuters reported separately Sunday.
