Meta Platforms (META) and Booz Allen Hamilton (BAH) said Friday they developed 'Space Llama,' an artificial intelligence-powered tech stack designed to reduce the International Space Station's reliance on paper manuals and instructions from the ground.
The AI stack uses Meta's Llama 3.2, Booz Allen's A2E2 architecture, Nvidia (NVDA) CUDA software, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise's (HPE) Spaceborne Computer-2. The compact system runs locally on the ISS with minimal energy and no need for Earth-based power or computing, the company said.
The company said the system would help lower costs, improve responses to maintenance issues and predictive repairs, and give astronauts time to focus on mission-critical tasks.
