President Trump said Boeing should "default" China after Chinese airlines returned three of the jet maker's planes.

"Boeing should default China for not taking the beautifully finished planes that China committed to purchase," Trump posted on Truth Social. "This is just a small example of what China has done to the USA, for years."

Two Boeing jets that had been sitting at a Boeing facility in Zhoushan, China, where planes are finished and prepped for final delivery, were returned to Boeing's Seattle-area home base in recent days, after China required Chinese airlines to seek approval before taking delivery of Boeing aircraft. Boeing Chief Executive Kelly Ortberg Wednesday said a third plane was also on its way back to the U.S.

Ortberg said that Boeing would stop making jets for China if airlines won't take the planes, and that Boeing could find other buyers for jets rejected by China.
