4月16日，据相关媒体报道，Meta Platforms(META)CEO扎克伯格曾在3月底打电话给美国联邦贸易委员会（FTC）的负责人，提出了一个条件：Meta将支付4.5亿美元，以了结一桩旷日持久、即将开庭审理的反垄断案件。这一出价远低于联邦贸易委员会要求的300亿美元。
据知情人士透露，在电话会议上，扎克伯格听起来很有信心，认为总统特朗普会在联邦贸易委员会支持他。而联邦贸易委员会主席Andrew Ferguson认为该提议不可信，他不准备接受低于180亿美元和一项同意法令的任何和解方案。知情人士说，随着审判的临近，Meta还一度将报价提高到接近10亿美元。前联邦贸易委员会主席表示，该公司4.5亿美元的和解提议是“妄想”。
