Quantum Computing Stocks Jump: Sealsq up 13%, Amazon and Alphabet up 1%

Quantum computing stocks jumped in premarket trading Wednesday. Sealsq rose 13%; Quantum Corporation rose 6%; D-Wave Quantum rose 5%; IONQ rose 4%; Rigetti Computing rose 3%; Quantum Computing rose 2%; Amazon and Alphabet rose more than 1%.

The following are recent news about quantum computing.

A Chinese research team has officially published findings that their quantum processor, Zuchongzhi 3.0, outperforms Google’s latest quantum computing efforts by a factor of one million. The study, released in Physical Review Letters and detailed previously on arXiv, reinforces China’s growing influence in the race for quantum computational advantage, a milestone where quantum computers outperform classical machines in specific tasks.

As debates about quantum’s timeline continue to rage, IBM is betting that quantum computing will be a cornerstone of future technology, with chief executive Arvind Krishna telling Time Magazine the company is on track to achieve significant advances in error correction and coherence times by the end of the decade.

Amazon nnounced Ocelot last week, its new quantum computing chip that can reduce the costs of implementing quantum error correction by up to 90%. The AWS Center for Quantum Computing team developed the chip at the California Institute of Technology.
