Unum Group (NYSE: UNM) shares tumbled 5.45% in after-hours trading on Tuesday, following the company's release of its fourth-quarter 2024 financial results. The insurance provider's earnings and revenue fell short of Wall Street's expectations, potentially triggering the sell-off in the extended trading session.
For the quarter ended December 31, 2024, Unum Group reported adjusted earnings of $2.03 per share, missing the consensus analyst estimate of $2.14 by 5.14%. The company's earnings, however, increased by 13.41% compared to the same period last year.
Unum Group's revenue for the fourth quarter came in at $3.24 billion, missing the analyst consensus estimate of $3.29 billion by 1.46%. Nevertheless, the figure represented a 2.93% year-over-year increase.
