BlackBerry's stock surged 7.90% in Wednesday's intraday trading session, following the company's announcement of a multi-year initiative to train thousands of software engineers in India for its QNX automotive platform.

The Canadian software company has partnered with Pi Square Technologies to provide free access to the QNX Software Development Platform and equip engineers with skills for success in the embedded systems industry. This move aims to address the rising global demand for skilled embedded systems developers and foster a new generation of highly-skilled engineers for BlackBerry's QNX platform, which focuses on automotive and embedded systems.

As part of the expanded "QNX Everywhere" initiative, Pi Square will collaborate with academic institutions across India to integrate QNX's tools and technologies into engineering curricula. This partnership is seen as a positive development for BlackBerry's QNX division and its efforts to strengthen its position in the rapidly growing automotive software market.
