美国商务部公布的数据显示，美国2月零售销售环比0.2%，预期0.6%，前值由-0.9%大幅下修至-1.2%
美国2月份零售额增幅低于预期，1月数据也被向下修正，加剧了消费者支出减少的担忧。
商务部周一公布的数据显示，2月份零售额名义增长0.2%，低于经济学家预期的0.6%。另外，1月份零售额被向下修正为下降1.2%，此前的数据显示该月下降了0.9%。
控制组数据（不包括几个波动较大的类别，并计入当季国内生产总值（GDP）数据）增长了1%。经济学家此前预计会增长0.4%。然而，1月份控制组销售额被修正为下降1%，低于最初报告的下降0.8%。剔除汽车和汽油后，2月份销售额增长0.5%，高于市场普遍预期的增长0.4%。
报告还显示，13个类别中有7个类别出现下降，尤其值得注意的是汽车，此前市场普遍预期其将从1月份的低迷中反弹。
汽油销售以及电子产品和服装销售也下降。零售报告中唯一的服务业类别，餐馆和酒吧的消费支出下降幅度达到一年来最大。
