据路透社9月22日报道，微软与星座能源（NASDAQ: CEG）于周五签署了一项协议，将重启历史悠久的三里岛核电站部分设施。然而，星座能源尚未提交必要的政府许可证申请。
美国核能管理委员会（NRC）的发言人表示，该机构准备与星座能源讨论重启核电站的理由。星座能源预计NRC的审查过程将在2027年完成。
这项核电站重启计划再次表明，随着人工智能技术的快速发展，电力需求正在显著增加。微软是众多押注人工智能的科技巨头之一，国际能源署在今年1月预测，到2026年，全球AI能耗可能翻倍，达到与日本年能耗相当的水平。
核能被视为比太阳能和风能更可靠的电力来源，而且它的碳排放远低于燃烧煤炭等化石燃料。亚马逊今年也在宾夕法尼亚州购买了一座核能数据中心。
根据微软与星座能源签署的20年协议，星座能源将重启三里岛核电站一座因成本过高而于2019年关闭的反应堆，并向微软供应电力。然而，核电站的运营仍需获得联邦、州和地方的许可证。
星座能源预计将投入约16亿美元，计划在2028年初完成反应堆的重启。
