Shares of MOBVOI Inc., the Chinese artificial intelligence and wearables company, plummeted 14.29% on Wednesday morning after news emerged that a major shareholder plans to sell part or all of its stake in the firm.
Perfect Optronics, a MOBVOI investor through its Skyteam subsidiary, announced on Tuesday that it intends to dispose of all or part of the MOBVOI shares it holds. The company did not disclose the reason for the planned sale or the number of shares it plans to offload.
The announcement appears to have spooked investors, who rushed to sell MOBVOI shares in anticipation of increased selling pressure from Perfect Optronics' share disposal. As of 9:30 AM Hong Kong time, MOBVOI's stock had fallen 14.29% to HK$12.87.
