Oklo Inc. (OKLO) saw its stock soar 5.3% in pre-market trading on Friday morning. The rally came after the nuclear power company announced a partnership with RPower to deploy its cutting-edge nuclear reactors at data centers.
Under the agreement, RPower will initially deploy natural gas generators within approximately 24 months to provide immediate power to data centers. However, Oklo's advanced Aurora nuclear powerhouses will take over as the primary energy source once they become commercially available. The Aurora reactors are designed to be more cost-effective, require infrequent refueling, and run on nuclear waste.
This phased power strategy aims to ensure reliable energy access for data centers today while transitioning towards Oklo's clean nuclear energy solutions in the future. Analysts see potential for Oklo to capitalize on the growing artificial intelligence and data center industry with its innovative nuclear technology.
