Hong Kong Stocks Open Higher; Nio, Xinyi Solar Soar 10%

On October 29, 2024, the Hong Kong stock market opened with a positive trend. The Hang Seng Index (HSI) rose by 0.63%, the Hang Seng Tech Index (HSTECH) surged by 1.63%.

Among the notable stock movements, XINYI SOLAR saw a significant increase of 10.00%, making it one of the top gainers. SINOPEC CORP, on the other hand, experienced a notable decline of 3.10%.

In the tech sector, SENSETIME-W rose by 1.87%, and ALI HEALTH increased by 1.50%. CHINA LIT also performed well, with a gain of 3.68%. MICROPORT saw a rise of 2.73%, while MEITUAN-W increased by 2.16%.

In the energy sector, CNOOC edged up by 0.11%. The company achieved record high net production and net profit in the third quarter of 2024. In the first three quarters of 2024, CNOOC Limited increased its reserves and production while effectively controlling costs and enhancing efficiency. Net production and net profit rose remarkably year over year, both hitting record highs for the same period in history. The company recorded a net production of 542.1 million barrels of oil equivalent, representing an increase of 8.5% YoY. The net production from China grew by 6.8% YoY to 369.2 million BOE, mainly attributable to the production from oil and gas fields including Bozhong 19-6 and Enping 20-4. The net production from overseas rose by 12.2% YoY to 172.9 million BOE, mainly due to the increased production from the Payara project in Guyana.

Other notable stock movements include BILIBILI-W, which rose by 4.67%, and XPENG-W, which increased by 6.47%. NIO-SW also saw a significant rise of 10.47%.
