The Hang Seng Index (HSI) rose by 0.93%, the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index (HSCEI) increased by 1.08%, while the Hang Seng Tech Index (HSTECH) fell by 0.34%, and the Hang Seng China-Affiliated Corporations Index (HSCCI) climbed by 1.36%.
In terms of sector performance, the port transportation sector and the shipping sector saw notable movements. However, the aluminum sector and the property management sector did not show significant changes.
Among individual stocks, TENCENT rose by 3.61%. The People's Bank of China conducted a reverse repurchase operation, coupled with better-than-expected Caixin China October Manufacturing PMI, which boosted the Hong Kong stock market by over 300 points. Tencent Holdings surged over 4%, Jinli Permanent Magnet rose by 38%, and China Rare Earth increased by over 23%. The real estate sector also performed well, with Longfor Group rising by 3%, China Resources Land increasing by 3.48%, and China Overseas Development climbing by 4.31%.
On the other hand, SMIC fell by 4.81%, and CSPC PHARMA dropped significantly by 8.35%. CSPC Pharmaceutical Group's stock price plummeted due to a profit warning, leading to a substantial decline.
Other notable stock movements include SENSETIME-W down by 2.56%, HANG LUNG PPT up by 2.60%, GEELY AUTO rising by 1.32%, and ALI HEALTH decreasing by 1.02%. Additionally, BYD ELECTRONIC fell by 2.84%, and CHINA RES BEER increased by 1.56%.
In the technology sector, XIAOMI-W rose by 2.25%, driven by the news that Xiaomi's car deliveries in October exceeded 20,000 units, with expectations to meet the annual target of 100,000 units ahead of schedule.
Overall, the Hong Kong stock market experienced a mixed day with significant movements in technology and real estate stocks, while some pharmaceutical and semiconductor stocks faced declines.
