U.S. stocks bounced on Tuesday in a slight reprieve from the tariff market turmoil as hopes increased the U.S. would be able to make deals that lower the duties over time.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 1,365, or 3.6%. The S&P 500 jumped 3.4%, while the Nasdaq advanced 3.2%.
Big tech stocks jumped in morning trading. Broadcom rose 9%; Palantir rose 8%; Nvidia and Amazon rose 6%; Meta and Tesla rose 5%; Microsoft, Alphabet, and Apple rose 3%.
