Shares of NuScale Power (SMR) surged 5.21% in the pre-market trading session on Tuesday, following the company's announcement of Alan Boeckmann as the new non-executive chairman of its board of directors.

NuScale Power, a leading developer of small modular reactor (SMR) nuclear technology, announced that Boeckmann, who has been a board member since 2020, will replace Jim Hackett as the non-executive chairman effective Wednesday. Hackett is stepping down from NuScale's board to become the lead independent director at engineering and construction firm Fluor Corporation.

NuScale Power's groundbreaking SMR technology is powered by the NuScale Power Module, a small, safe, pressurized water reactor that can generate up to 77 megawatts of electricity and can be scaled up to meet customer needs. As the first and only SMR design certified by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, NuScale is well-positioned to provide carbon-free energy solutions for various applications, including electrical generation, data centers, district heating, and desalination.
