Shares of Veren Inc. (VRN) plunged 5.14% on Wednesday after the company reported disappointing earnings results for the third quarter of 2024.
The Calgary-based energy company posted adjusted earnings per share of $0.29, missing the analyst consensus estimate of $0.30 by 3.33%. While Veren's quarterly sales of $992.9 million beat expectations of $950.95 million, the earnings miss appears to have weighed heavily on investor sentiment, leading to a significant drop in the stock price.
Despite the earnings miss, Veren announced a quarterly cash dividend of $0.115 per share, payable on January 2, 2025, to shareholders of record as of December 15, 2024. However, this dividend announcement seems to have had little impact on mitigating the stock's decline.
