Shares of Oklo Inc. (OKLO), a company focused on developing advanced nuclear reactors, skyrocketed by a staggering 32.49% on October 28, 2024, riding on a wave of positive news surrounding the nuclear energy sector.

The rally was driven by Lightbridge Corporation's (LTBR) innovative metallic nuclear fuel technology, which received a significant boost from several technical studies and experimental results presented at the TopFuel 2024 Conference. These findings demonstrated that Lightbridge's fuel operates at significantly lower temperatures compared to traditional uranium oxide fuel, providing improved safety margins and potential power uprate opportunities.

Additionally, a study conducted by Structural Integrity Associates concluded that Lightbridge's metallic fuel is safer than conventional fuel, particularly in accident conditions. Lightbridge also shared results from a previous overseas test reactor experiment, where its fuel rodlets endured over 24 hours in dryout conditions during irradiation, confirming the expected performance and safety advantages of its technology.
