Dyson, a tenant at Soilbuild Business Space REIT (SGX:S7P), will lay off about 1,000 of its 3,500 UK staff as part of a global restructuring, The Straits Times reported Wednesday.
Dyson has 14,000 employees worldwide and the layoff has no direct impact on its nearly 2,000 Singapore-based employees, the report said.
The company cited legal constraints in the UK for withholding further details on the layoffs, according to the report.
Dyson, which relocated its headquarters to Singapore in 2019, has been expanding operations in the city-state. It has increased its Singapore-based engineers and scientists, contributing to product development and R&D.
In May 2023, Dyson began constructing a new 247,000-square-foot plant in Tuas to produce next-generation batteries, expected to be operational by 2025.
