New Starbucks CEO Lays Out Plan for Company in Open Letter
New Starbucks (SBUX) Chief Executive Brian Niccol outlined four areas the company will focus on immediately under his leadership in an open letter published Tuesday on the company's website.
First, Starbucks will work to ensure baristas have the tools and time to make "great drinks every time, delivered personally to each customer," Niccol said. Second, the CEO said additional emphasis will be placed on morning shifts because people "start their day with us, and we need to meet their expectations."
Third, the company wants to elevate the in-store experience so that customers linger in "inviting places" with "comfortable seating, thoughtful design and a clear distinction between 'to-go' and 'for-here' service," according to the CEO. Finally, the company wants to remind people of its "unmatched coffee expertise ... role in communities and the special experience that only Starbucks can provide," Niccol added.
To achieve these goals, Starbucks is making investments in technology that improves its supply chain and modernizes its app and mobile ordering platform, the CEO said.
