智通财经APP获悉，美国联合航空(UAL.US)周五表示，计划在其数百架喷气客机上免费提供SpaceX公司星链（Starlink）提供的机上Wi-Fi，这是SpaceX公司迄今为止最大的一笔机上互联网交易。目前，航空公司一直在投资于更快的机上Wi-Fi。
联合航空与星链的交易涵盖了超过1000架飞机的机队，该公司表示，将于2025年初开始在飞机上测试星链服务。
达美航空在2023年初宣布，其SkyMiles忠诚计划的会员将免费使用机上互联网。与星链有协议的夏威夷航空公司也提供免费的机上Wi-Fi。捷蓝航空公司多年来一直提供免费Wi-Fi。
SpaceX此前还与半私营航空公司JSX达成了协议。
自2020年首次亮相以来，SpaceX一直在稳步扩大其星链网络和产品供应。据该公司称，目前约有6000颗星链卫星在轨道上运行，连接着100个国家的300多万客户。SpaceX最初的目标是消费者，但已经扩展到包括航空在内的其他市场。
美国联合航空大举赞扬SpaceX的卫星服务，称其提供“全球互联网接入，包括海洋、极地地区和其他传统手机或Wi-Fi信号以前无法到达的偏远地区”，并表示这是这家在大西洋和太平洋地区服务最多的美国航空公司的卖点之一。
