PricewaterhouseCoopers suspended the construction of a campus in Hainan, China following penalties imposed on it due to its audit of China Evergrande (HKG:3333), The Standard reported Thursday.
PwC planned to use the campus as a training facility for "building trust in leadership," the report said.
The facility, located in a tourism hub in Sanya, Hainan, was due for completion in 2025. The firm invested more than 1 billion yuan in the project.
PwC was fined 441 million yuan and a six-month suspension for its audit on Evergrande in 2019 and 2020.
