Lithium explorer Raiden Resources (ASX: RDN) has extended a potential new drill target at its Andover South project.
Mapping and pegmatite analysis undertaken by Raiden and contractor CSA Global’s geologists have expanded the known pegmatites at target zone 7, covering 650 metres along a north-west strike extent.
The team also undertook a re-evaluation of previously identified pegmatites in the field that returned low lithium oxide values to determine their degree of fractionation and potential for lithium-caesium-tantalum mineralisation.
Managing director Dusko Ljubojevic said Raiden continues to identify a number of promising targets at Andover.
“One of the key objectives of the follow-up mapping program was to determine the extent of target area 1 along the western strike extent,” Mr Ljubojevic said.
“Target area 1 is the key target for the company in the upcoming maiden drill program, where pegmatites are characterised by high fractionation and high-grade mineralisation—this work has defined further high-priority targets which the company will evaluate in the near future.”
The company re-engaged CSA Global to assist with its most recent field program at Andover, which included a number of objectives such as mapping previously undefined pegmatites and analysing the outcrop mineralogy.
This work focused on extending previously defined fractionation trends into unmapped or unsampled areas of the Andover South pegmatite field.
A total of 91 sample locations were visited including known pegmatites and their extensions, with assessment of recently defined pegmatite outcrops also conducted.
The work successfully identified and mapped several new pegmatite outcrops in the north-western part of the tenement.
On average, the observed pegmatite outcrops were found to be up to 2m in width and extend across an approximate strike length of 650m.
Raiden plans to evaluate the zone in further detail to decide whether they will be tested during the maiden drill campaign.
