(Bloomberg) -- Samsung Electronics Co. was fined as much as 10.5 million won ($7,900) by South Korean regulators after employees at a semiconductor plant were exposed to radiation.

The Nuclear Safety and Security Commission approved the administrative penalty for the chipmaker after conducting an investigation, the agency said in a statement on Thursday.

In May, two employees working on a production line at Samsung’s chip plant in Giheung, about 40 kilometers (25 miles) south of Seoul, were exposed to radiation and hospitalized at the Korea Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences. They had shown abnormal symptoms on their fingers because of localized exposure.

Samsung has said it would cooperate with the probe and give support to the affected workers. It also said it would do its best to prevent further accidents.
