格隆汇9月29日｜对于新日铁计划斥资149亿美元收购美国钢铁，美国总统拜登表示，他并无改变对相关交易的看法，即希望美国钢铁的控制权掌握在美国人手上。拜登与副总统哈里斯早前都表明，希望美国钢铁由美国人拥有。早前有报道称，负责审查交易的美国财政部辖下外国投资委员会(CFIUS)，倾向以国家安全为由，向两间公司表明不会批准交易。不过，CFIUS其后宣布延长审查时间，交易要到11月总统选举后才有决定。
