WuXi AppTec (HKG:2359, SHA:603259) bought back 23,934,621 A shares through bidding on the Shanghai Stock Exchange for 1 billion yuan, a Sept. 27 bourse filing said.
The shares, which were repurchased at an average price of 41.78 yuan apiece, represent 0.82% of the biotech firm's total issued share capital.
The repurchased shares will be canceled, reducing the company's registered capital.
Hong Kong- and China-listed shares of the company closed 6% and 10% higher, respectively, on Monday.
