Private equity firms are showing interest in acquiring Alibaba's (HKG:9988) majority stake in Chinese hypermarket chain Sun Art Retail (HKG:6808), Bloomberg News reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.
Among those that have expressed interest in purchasing part or all of Alibaba's 79% stake are DCP Capital and Hillhouse Investment, the report said.
Trading in Sun Art's shares has been suspended since Friday pending an announcement, according to Bloomberg.
Alibaba's stake in Sun Art could also attract other buyout funds, the report said, citing the sources.
