Origin Energy is abandoning its plans to develop hydrogen at its Hunter Valley Hydrogen Hub deeming the project “too expensive and too risky,” says Sky News Business Reporter Edward Boyd.
“The decision is a blow to the Albanese government, which had the project shortlisted as part of its $2 billion dollar Hydrogen HeadStart Program,” he said.
“Origin announced plans to develop the site on Kooragang Island in early 2022, with the hydrogen intended to be used by Orica in its ammonia manufacturing process.”
