TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta gubernatorial candidate Pramono Anung visited the office of Jakarta Muhammadiyah Regional Management (PWM) on Saturday, September 28. The deputy chairman of PWM DKI Jakarta, Agus Suradika, said that there was no decision to endorse any of the candidates in the Jakarta gubernatorial election.

Agus said Muhammadiyah was open to visits from all candidates. "We see that none of the current candidates has a record of problems with the law."

Pramono Anung said he would improve clean water sanitation and pay attention to housing facilities in Jakarta if elected governor. "Sanitation, clean water and continuing the good programs of the previous governor, we will continue," Pramono said in Jakarta on Sunday, September 29, as quoted by Antara.

Pramono said he hoped the apartment dwellers would be willing to engage in dialogue and open up if the government provided aid later.

Pramono also said he planned to provide free public transportation services in Jakarta for 15 groups of workers. If elected as governor, he will ask for cooperation from the central government "so that LRT and MRT should be freed for these 15 groups," Pramono said on Sunday, September 29.

No politicization of religion

Pramono Anung promised to refrain from politicizing religion as he campaigns to become Jakarta's next Governor. He made the statement when he and his running mate, senior actor Rano Karno, met with residents of PIK, North Jakarta.

"It is important that religion is not used in politics," Pramono told the public at Ecopark Kayara, PIK, North Jakarta, on Saturday, September 28.

Clarification on rumors of handing out money

The spokesman for the Pramono Anung-Rano Karno gubernatorial campaign team, Aris Setiawan Yodi, clarified rumors that emerged after Pramono's impromptu visit to the Tanah Tinggi flats in Johar Baru district, Central Jakarta. He said Pramono, who was spreading his programs, was buying goods sold by the locals, not giving out money.

"What actually happened was that Mas Pram bought a lot of goods. He made many stops (at residents' stalls and booths). He went to an ice cream shop, fried food, he also got coffee," Aris said on Saturday, September 28.

Aris said there were several moments that made it seem as if Pramono was handing out money. For example, when people in the area fought over money Pramono gave to merchants, when in fact the money was to pay for the food he had bought.
