矿业巨头力拓（Rio Tinto）正就收购在纽约上市的锂生产商阿卡迪亚锂业公司（Arcadium lithium）进行谈判，这是力拓在这个快速增长的市场上立足的最新尝试。

　　力拓在周一的一份声明中表示，已向阿卡迪亚锂业提出收购要约，但不确定能否达成协议。力拓表示，除非需要向投资者提供最新情况，否则不会进一步置评。

　　力拓希望重塑其业务，以生产更多金属。该公司预计，在全球清洁能源技术大幅增长的背景下，这些金属将满足需求。目前，这家全球市值第二大的矿商的大部分利润来自钢铁原料铁矿石。

　　锂一直是力拓增长的重点之一，该公司预测未来10年锂需求将激增，因为锂不仅在电动汽车中发挥着重要作用，而且在客户需要时可以向电网释放电力的巨型电池中也发挥着重要作用。

　　今年1月，总部位于费城的Livent和澳大利亚的Allkem合并成立了阿卡迪亚锂业公司，目前市值约为30亿美元。
