Vodafone Group (VOD) and Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google said Tuesday they have agreed to a 10-year expansion of their partnership to offer AI and cloud services to users of smartphones and televisions in Europe and Africa and promote the Android operating system.
The agreement, valued at over $1 billion, will bring storage, security and Google's Gemini AI services to Vodafone customers in 15 countries and its partners in 45 other markets.
The deal will allow Vodafone to offer Google One AI Premium subscription plans, including Gemini Advanced, in select areas by 2025, Vodafone said.
Vodafone will additionally expand access to Google's AI-powered Pixel devices with its 5G network in Europe, while also developing a new cloud-native security service for its business customers "leveraging Google Cloud's Security Operations platform," it said.
