Exchange-Traded Funds, US Equities Rise After Midday

Broad Market Indicators

Broad-market exchange-traded funds IWM and IVV were higher. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) rose 0.8%.

US equity indexes rose, with the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average touching fresh intraday record highs, and government bond yields traded mixed after midday on Monday.

Energy

iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) and Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) lost about 0.3% each.

Technology

Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) was up 1.1%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) were higher.

SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) added 1%, and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) rose 1.6%.

Financial

Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) gained 0.7%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) climbed 2.2%, and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) lost 2%.

Commodities

Crude oil was down 2.4%; United States Oil Fund (USO) dipped 2.1%. Natural gas fell 4.8%, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) dropped 4.7%.

Gold was down 0.5% on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) fell 0.3%. Silver was 1.2% lower, and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) lost 1.3%.

Consumer

Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) rose 0.1%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) were higher.

Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) added 0.4%; retail fund VanEck Vectors Retail ETF (RTH) rose while SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) was lower.

Health Care

Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) was up 0.4%; iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) were higher. iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology ETF (IBB) added 0.1%.

Industrial

Select Sector SPDR-Industrial (XLI) was up 0.4%, and Vanguard Industrials (VIS) and iShares US Industrials (IYJ) traded higher.
