Singapore Airlines Group Passenger Load Factor Dips in September Despite Capacity Growth

Singapore Airlines' (SGX:C6L) group passenger capacity increased 9.7% year on year in September, while passenger traffic grew 7.7%, resulting in a 1.6 percentage point decline in the group's passenger load factor to 86.1%, according to a Tuesday filing on the Singapore Exchange.

The group, which includes Singapore Airlines and Scoot, carried 3.1 million passengers during the month, up 7.9% from a year earlier. Singapore Airlines reported a load factor of 85.7%, and Scoot posted 87.3%.

Cargo operations saw a 12% rise in load, driven by demand for new mobile product launches, surpassing the 10.4% growth in capacity. The cargo load factor stood at 58%, up 0.9 percentage points.

In September, Scoot added new routes to Subang, Malaysia, and Kertajati, Indonesia, expanding the group's presence in Southeast Asia.
