Garrett Motion and China National Heavy Duty Truck Group have agreed to enhance their cooperation in trying to develop a high-speed electrified powertrain for e-trucks.
The companies have signed a letter of intent in connection with advanced technologies for electric commercial vehicles, Garrett said Thursday. The two companies are developing an e-powertrain that could be use in China National's product portfolio.
Their goal is to start mass production of trucks equipped with the next generation technology by 2027.
"Under this alliance, the two companies will advance proof of concepts for e-powertrain systems in both light and heavy trucks, with a focus on energy efficiency and simplified vehicle integration," Garrett said.
