智通财经APP获悉，知名的油漆和涂料制造商PPG工业(PPG.US)宣布将在美国和欧洲裁减1800名员工并关闭一些工厂，这是其成本削减计划的一部分。此外，该公司还计划出售其在美国和加拿大的建筑涂料业务，以及其二氧化硅产品业务，预计这些交易将在2024年底或2025年初完成。PPG预计，这些成本削减措施全面实施后，每年可节省约1.75亿美元的税前费用，其中包括2025年的6000万美元。公司将在2024年第四季度记录2.5亿美元的税前费用。
据了解，PPG的这一成本削减计划主要旨在降低其在欧洲和一些其他全球业务的结构性成本。公司表示，这一决策是在最近达成的两项业务出售协议后做出的，即以约5.5亿美元的价格将建筑涂料业务出售给American Industrial Partners，以及以3.1亿美元的价格将二氧化硅产品业务出售给波兰化学公司Qemetica。PPG的建筑涂料业务包括Dulux、Glidden、Olympic和Liquid Nails等知名品牌。
首席执行官蒂姆·纳维什(Tim Knavish)在声明中提到，剥离这两项业务后，裁员是为了调整公司的固定成本基础和合理化公司规模。这些举措都是公司在年初进行战略评估后做出的决定。
另外，PPG在周三公布的第三季度利润未达到华尔街预期，部分原因是工业涂料部门的销售额下降。
