Centrus Energy said its subsidiary American Centrifuge Operating has won an award from the Energy Department to expand its high-assay, low-enriched uranium domestic commercial production.
The supplier of nuclear fuel and services for the nuclear power industry on Thursday said the contract has a minimum value of $2 million and a maximum value for all awardees of $2.7 billion over a 10-year period.
American Centrifuge Operating will manufacture centrifuges and supporting equipment exclusively in the U.S., relying upon domestic engineering and a U.S. supply chain that currently spans 14 major suppliers in 13 states.
