消息面上，10月18日，现货黄金一举突破2700美元大关，续创历史新高。伴随金价持续走强，国内包括周生生在内的多个品牌足金首饰价格向上突破800元/克。不过，有分析认为，随着金价的持续上涨，消费端的需求逐渐被抑制，尤其是除婚嫁需求外的金饰消费会减少，故而金价上涨可能导致更多金店停业或关闭。
今年上半年，周生生实现营业总额113.13亿港元，同比下滑12.98%；公司拥有人应占溢利5.26亿港元，同比下降36%。公司指，踏入三月、四月，金价在强烈的经济淡风中飙升，以致到了第二季度底，中国香港及中国澳门的同店销售增长与中国大陆的同店销售增长同样取得24%的跌幅。另外，2024年上半年度，公司开出25家新店的同时，也关闭了47家分店。
