欧洲央行行长拉加德表示，人们不应该想当然地认为欧元等老牌货币可以保持其在全球支付领域无可撼动的主导地位。

　　拉加德坚称她不是在评论美国。她以黄金为例来说明官员们应该保持警惕。

　　“我们需要密切关注世界各地的事态发展，” 拉加德说。“俄罗斯正在支撑黄金，因为它正在从地下大量开采。而且显然还有推动其他货币的努力。”

　　中央银行购买黄金是金价今年创纪录涨势的一个关键推动因素，而央行购买一定程度上是由于储备管理官员寻求保护本国财富免受地缘政治和经济不确定性的影响。

　　拉加德表示欧洲央行官员监控全球支付所使用货币的变化，并告诫不要自满。

　　“你知道，我们跟踪人们用哪种货币进行交易，用哪种货币在中央银行持有储备，用哪种货币进行贸易融资，” 她说。“一种货币的角色永远不应该被视为理所当然。”
