Waymo融资56亿美元，以扩展自动驾驶出租车服务
盖世汽车讯 据报道，Alphabet旗下的自动驾驶子公司Waymo宣布，已完成一轮由Alphabet牵头的56亿美元融资，旨在扩展其自动驾驶出租车服务。
Waymo表示，风险投资机构Andreessen Horowitz、富达投资集团（Fidelity）、Perry Creek、银湖资本（Silver Lake）、Tiger Global和T． Rowe Price等也参与了本轮融资。
Waymo说道：“凭借这笔最新投资，我们将继续扩大美国旧金山、凤凰城和洛杉矶的Waymo One出租车服务区域以让更多人能够乘坐自动驾驶出租车，同时，通过与优步（Uber）的合作关系，我们也在美国奥斯汀和亚特兰大提供服务。”
尽管当前自动驾驶技术面临广泛的质疑和严格的监管审查，汽车制造商和科技公司仍在投资自动驾驶出租车服务，以期利用自动驾驶技术推动商业成功。今年7月份，Alphabet首席财务官Ruth Porat表示，Alphabet计划在数年内向Waymo投资50亿美元。
Waymo在美国旧金山湾区、洛杉矶以及亚利桑那州的凤凰城提供自动驾驶汽车付费乘车服务。在2022年从加州公用事业委员会获得首个自动驾驶出租车运营许可证之前，Waymo进行了数百万英里的测试。
除Waymo之外，特斯拉首席执行官埃隆·马斯克（Elon Musk）表示，特斯拉将于明年在美国加利福尼亚州和得克萨斯州推出面向公众的无人驾驶出租车服务。
参与无人驾驶出租车领域竞争的其他公司还包括通用汽车旗下自动驾驶子公司Cruise。Cruise去年发生一起重大交通事故后，将其所有车辆撤下道路，目前正对其配备人类安全驾驶员的自动驾驶汽车进行测试。与此同时，亚马逊旗下的Zoox正在对其无方向盘和踏板的自动驾驶车辆进行测试。
