Eni (E) reported Q3 earnings Friday of 0.16 euros ($0.17) per diluted share, down from 0.57 euros a year earlier.
A single analyst polled by Capital IQ expected 0.35 euros.
Total revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 30 was 21.02 billion euros, down from 22.65 billion euros a year earlier.
Comparable analyst estimates were not available.
The Italian state-controlled oil and gas giant also said it increased its 2024 share buyback authorization to 2 billion euros, up from the previous 1.6 billion euros.
The company also declared a quarterly dividend 0.25 euros per share, to be paid Nov. 20, with an ex-dividend date of Nov. 18.
