DOUAI, France : European Union tariffs imposed on Wednesday on imported Chinese electric vehicles are based on rules set by the World Trade Organization that everyone has signed up to, said Luca de Meo, chief executive of French car maker Renault.
The additional duties of up to 45.3 per cent follow a year-long investigation.
The question is whether European industry will be able to compete with the Chinese in five years time, he told reporters during a plant visit.
