在美国卫生部门公开将致命的大肠杆菌爆发与麦当劳的quarter Pounder汉堡联系起来一周后，该公司首席执行官克里斯·肯普辛斯基（Chris Kempczinski）告诉投资者，情况已经过去了。

　　“我们是如何处理这个问题的，现在我们要搬家了……我们认为它已经过去了，”Kempczinski在周二的公司电话会议上说。

　　他在事先准备好的讲话中说，“局势似乎得到了控制。”

　　周日，麦当劳表示，四分之一磅汉堡（Quarter Pounder）将重新回到大约900家餐厅，在疫情爆发后，该公司已将该菜单下架。

　　卫生部门没有在汉堡的新鲜牛肉饼中检测到任何大肠杆菌，但美国食品和药物管理局仍在调查四分之一磅汉堡中使用的洋葱片是否可能是大肠杆菌的来源。麦当劳已经无限期停止从该供应商处采购洋葱，并将在菜单上恢复四分之一磅汉堡，不含洋葱片。

　　麦当劳首席财务官伊恩·博登（Ian Borden）说，在疫情宣布后的几天里，由于消费者对这一消息的反应，麦当劳美国餐厅的日销售额和客流量立即变为负数。他补充说，公司预计业务不会受到实质性影响。
