彭博行业研究分析师迈克尔·沙阿对此表示：“该药的疗效看起来不错，且安全性也保持良好。”
据Viking报告，最高剂量的药物没有导致患者停药。在研究中，共有92人服用了不同剂量的药物，其中最高剂量为100毫克。常见的副作用包括便秘、恶心和呕吐，与其他减肥药类似。
目前，礼来和诺和诺德也在研发此类药物，辉瑞和阿斯利康等其他制药商也参与其中。
根据去年发表的一项中期研究，礼来公司的口服药物orforglipron在最高剂量下每日服用，36周内可使肥胖成年人平均减重约15%。而含有诺和诺德Wegovy活性成分索马鲁肽的药片，在一项后期研究中也产生了类似结果，该研究持续时间几乎是前述研究的两倍。
