智通财经获悉，西南航空公司(LUV.US)周一任命航空业资深人士Rakesh Gangwal为董事会独立主席。在激进投资者Elliott投资管理公司的压力下，该航空公司于7月将Gangwal拉入董事会。Gangwal是印度最大航司靛蓝航空母公司InterGlobe Aviation联合创始人。
上个月，西南航空在董事会层面做出了更大让步，从而解决了与Elliott的董事会纠纷，首席执行官Bob Jordan得以留任。近几个月来，Jordan受到了Elliott的密切关注，这家投资公司最初要求更换Jordan和董事长Gary Kelly。
西南航空上个月宣布与Elliott达成协议，任命新董事会成员并避免代理权之争。根据该协议， Kelly将提前退休，Jordan将继续担任首席执行官。
根据上个月公布的人事变动，Pierre Breber、David Cush、Sarah Feinberg、Dave Grissen、Gregg Saretsky 和Patricia Watson于11月1日加入西南航空董事会。Kelly也提前退休，并担任名誉主席一职。Kelly原本计划2025年退休。
Elliott此前也同意了与西南航空达成暂停和信息共享协议。持有西南航空10%以上股份的Elliott撤回了此前提出的12月10日召开特别股东大会的请求。
