Donald Trump won North Carolina, keeping the battleground state in the Republican's column, the Associated Press projected. The result boosted Trump's chance for winning the presidency and narrowed Kamala Harris's possible pathways to victory.
With about 90% of the vote counted, Trump had 50.8% to 48.1% for Democrat Kamala Harris.
Democrats had hoped to flip the state blue, but since 1980 it has only been won once by their party, when Barack Obama carried it in 2008.
