Gulf Island Fabrication said Chairman William Chiles will retire at the end of the month and be replaced by Chief Executive Richard Heo.

The steel fabricator and service provider to the industrial and energy sectors said Tuesday its board of directors will be reduced to five following the retirement of Chiles.

He has been chair of the board since 2022, about two and a half years after Heo became CEO.

The company also named director Robert Averick as the lead independent director of the board.
