Singapore Shares Buck Regional Trend to Start Week in Black; UOB Gains 3%; SIA Drops 3%

Singapore shares started the week in black, outperforming its regional peers as Asian stocks fell on Monday on less than expected stimulus from Beijing.

The Straits Times Index fluctuated between 3,705.53 and 3,760.84 during the day. It ended the session at 3,739.47, up 15.10 points or 0.41% from Friday's close.

In corporate news, Venture Corp.'s (SGX:V03) net profit was down 4.7% quarter over quarter to SG$60.6 million in the third quarter of 2024, sending the company's shares down over 5% at market close.

SBS Transit (SGX:S61) closed flat on Monday, as its profit after tax rose 1.7% in the third quarter to SG$18.2 million from SG$17.9 million in the year-ago period.

Nera Telecommunications' (SGX:N01) shares slipped 1% on Monday's close, as the company's third-quarter revenue fell 15% year over year to SG$23.6 million from SG$27.9 million.
