Simmons First National (SFNC) said Tuesday that Chief Executive Robert Fehlman will retire at the end of the year due to personal interests and family medical issues.
Executive Chairman George Makris Jr. will return as chairman and CEO of the company and its Simmons Bank subsidiary, starting Jan. 1. Fehlman will stay in an advisory role through Q1, the company said.
Simmons also appointed Christopher Van Steenberg as chief operation officer, effective Nov. 12. Van Steenberg was previously chief digital and product officer at a Mid-South bank.
