Assurant raised its quarterly dividend to 80 cents per share from 72 cents.
The board increased the dividend due to the company's strong capital position and confidence in Assurant's long-term cash generation, Chief Financial Officer Keith Meier said Tuesday.
The new dividend, equal $3.20 on an annual basis, represents a dividend yield of 1.5%, based on the company's latest closing price of $219.17 per share.
Assurant raised its dividend to 72 cents per share from 70 cents last November.
The new dividend will be payable on Dec. 30 to shareholders of record at the close of business on Dec. 9, the company said.
The company said it has raised its dividend for 20 consecutive years.
