英国央行官员Catherine Mann表示，在接下来一年内降息100个基点会助长通胀。这意味着她跟赞成渐进式降息的货币政策委员会（MPC）多数成员立场不同。

　　“100个基点太过激进，”Mann周四在Brown Brothers Harriman的活动中表示，“这会跟我对未来需求状况和基础通胀持续性的看法不一致。”

　　Mann上述表态旨在回应有关货币政策委员会委员Alan Taylor本周言论的提问。Taylor暗示“渐进”意味着每季度降息一次。货币市场目前预期的降息幅度在70个基点左右，这意味着降息两次，很可能还有第三次。

　　Mann赞同的方式是在较长时间内维持利率不变，一旦明确“基础通胀动态”生变，再进行更大幅度的降息。11月7日，由9名成员组成的MPC决定今年第二次降息，Mann是唯一持反对意见的成员。
